Halo Semua, Hey Guys! It's Fansi...
This is the very first blog that I ever write on my own website and I am really excited about it. On this blog, I wanna tell you a glimpse of myself, my background, and how I landed here in Toronto Canada.
I am an Indonesian who has a dream to go overseas, get a degree in a prestigious institution, and also meet and learn people from different cultures. That dream has been on my bucket list since I was a Lil girl.
Back when I graduated high school, I told my parents that I want to get my Bachelors degree in America but they did not let me since I was too young and they worried that I won't survive to live in a foreign country by myself so they told me to take my bachelor's in Indonesia. During my studies, I want to prove to my parents that I am capable to live by myself in another country. In my third year of university, there was a full scholarship program from NIIED, South Korean Ministry of Education for Computer science students to do an intensive 1,5 months research and study related to wireless mobile engineering. I was really intrigued by this program and immediately applied. This program was a collaboration between Binus University and Dankook University in South Korea. A few weeks later after I hand on my application, I got accepted to study at Dankook University.
I told my parents that I got accepted to this program and they were really proud. I was pretty surprised that they would let me go to South Korea by myself, on the other hand, I was also thinking that I am a bit mature now so maybe that was one of the factors.
Here are some of my pictures when I was pursuing my summer course in South Korea
During my last year of university, I started working in a well-known Southeast Asian Online transportation company called Grab as an Operations Executive. When I graduated from university, I still had that thought of pursuing my education abroad and I let my parents know about it. They were really supportive of my decision to study abroad and they told me that I should start looking for colleges in the country that I would like to go to.
At the time, I started to look for schools and countries that I am interested in. My parents and I also went to several International Education Fairs, to also get more insights from the colleges and agents' perspectives. After spending hours and days on this research, my parents came up to the conclusion that Canada will be the best fit for me. Not only that English is the main language there but also they have the program that I wanted in just one year. I was really convinced on my parent's idea and came to a conclusion that Canada is the country that I want to go to.
I applied to three colleges in Canada and only two colleges approved my applications. The first college was in Windsor and the second one was in Toronto. I consider myself a big city girl and I believe that Toronto will be perfect for me and yeah here I am in Toronto!
So that was my story of how I ended up here in Toronto. I want to hear your story if you guys are also studying abroad. Also let me know in the comments down below what blog should I make next. I am looking forward to writing more blogs about my journey here as an Indonesian living in Canada!
Cheers,
Fansi
